5 reasons to visit us at SAE’s WCX conference this year

It’s nearly show time at SAE International’s World Congress Experience (WCX) 2024, which takes place in Detroit between 16th-18th April. Based in the epicenter of automotive innovation, this mobility industry’s renowned event promises a show that connects industry leaders, engineers and technical enthusiasts to help solve the challenges facing the future of automotive.

Offering a wide range of technical sessions, panel debates and keynote presentations from Toyota Research Institute, Ford and Qualcomm the event focuses on vehicle safety, autonomous vehicles and emerging technologies shaping the future of mobility. We're thrilled to be part of this year's event and have five compelling reasons why you should drop by and say hello!

1. A unique place within the supply chain - The dedicated software-defined vehicle area is paramount at WCX due to its transformative impact on the automotive industry. By unlocking new avenues for subscription business models this heightened connectivity seamlessly integrates aspects of our personal lives between our vehicles, home and work. You’ll find us within this section amongst a wider automotive ecosystem who are increasingly looking to offer tailored technology solutions that result in unique in-car experiences. Moreover, software-driven solutions are helping to facilitate effortless upgrades and scalability without major hardware or infrastructure changes. Fostering greater collaboration, this enables industry leaders to navigate technological advancements, regulatory shifts, and evolving consumer preferences, cost-effectively. S-GNSS Auto® is no exception: it is an upgrade to the software driver of an existing GNSS chip that enhances its sensitivity, urban accuracy and integrity.

2. Gain precious insights on the value of GNSS for ADAS - We’re joining a line up of talks taking place as part of the multi platform arena - Learning Lab. During our talk, you’ll gain valuable insights on the indispensable role of GNSS and understand how it is enabling Level 3 autonomy and beyond. We’ll discuss the recent trial results of S-GNSS Auto®, our next generation GNSS positioning technology, with Curtis Hay, Technical Fellow, GNSS, V2X and Maps, giving General Motors view on how our technology is being adopted to successfully extend the future of mobility solutions in challenging environments.

3. Understand the impact of GPS spoofing to the industry - One of the main potential and growing threats to the accuracy of GNSS data for the automotive sector is highly sophisticated spoofing and jamming which can interfere or even falsify satellite navigation. Highly sophisticated spoofing presents a real challenge to the future of mobility , with OEM’s and the wider supply chain noting that spoofing needs to be monitored and that extra protection is indeed needed. We’ve summarised the industry’s views regarding this growing risk into a valuable guide which will be available for download on our dedicated WCX insights page. Come and claim your copy.

4. Meet our team - Industry specialists Manuel del Castillo and Chris Lane will be found at the booth (519) for conversations on how GNSS is enabling the new era of automation. Expansion beyond level 3 will take two forms: lowering the cost of L3 systems to make them affordable to the mass market, and making L3 driving possible in more places and for longer periods. In both endeavours, the use of global navigation satellite systems GNSS enhanced with S-GNSS Auto is set to play a key role. They’ll be on hand to discuss the critical role of GNSS in providing absolute positioning and help you discover how S-GNSS Auto® re-shapes the capabilities of GNSS technology.

    5. Enter our free prize draw- Open to all attendees of WCX, all you need to do is visit our WCX page, sign up to our prize draw and visit us on the final day of the show at noon for the winner to be drawn. In return, you have the opportunity to win a lego technic McLaren Formula 1™ Race car.

If you’re passionate about mobility engineering, seeking invaluable insights into innovative technology and future trends aligned to the future of transportation then this event is a must-attend. Don't forget the valuable networking opportunities among 6,000 engineers, with AV’s, EV’s and software defined vehicles leading the agenda. We’re certainly looking forward to it.
